Vocal Accompaniment

Singers, teachers and choir directors know that the best way to perform vocal music is with the accompaniment the composer intended.  Using piano reductions or pre-recorded music is a compromise that’s come to be expected, even though it flattens the emotional and expressive power of the music.

Example – Magnifica Chorale, Tran Chuc, conductor

Tynan Davis, mezzo, rehearsing with the FauxharmonicThe Fauxharmonic is not a recording.  It’s a subtle and expressive digital musical instrument played by musicians who sensitively accompany your singing.  The Fauxharmonic gives you the full orchestral accompaniment that provides the expansive, unique and inspiring sonic world that best supports your creative endeavor.  And we’re affordable enough to use during early rehearsals, right up through concert performances … giving you time to explore and integrate your vocal sound with the orchestral palette.

Magnificent sounding

Even the best pianist or organist can’t change the fact that they only have access to a limited palette of musical color and expression.  For example, no pianist can create a sustained, largo crescendo matching that of the human voice.  But the Fauxharmonic Orchestra can do this.  And by faithfully producing the sounds the composer envisioned, the Fauxharmonic delivers the magnificent sound world that supports and inspires singers.

Just the right balance

Soloists and choirs can produce an incredibly wide range of dynamics and sound colors.  Supporting these with an equally diverse and flexible accompaniment is often essential to producing the result composers intended (and that audiences deserve).

The Fauxharmonic musicians play with you in real time and in your performance space.  We have direct musical control over balance and tempo, enabling us to produce just the right fit the music and your vision demands.

Need more support and power at the climax?  You got it.  Need more time at the end of that phrase?  Sure thing.  The purpose of the Fauxharmonic accompaniment is to support the musical needs of the moment, not to make you shoe-horn your performance into a one-size-fits-all recording.

No last minute surprises

Even though you work hard to get ready for your performance, switching to an orchestral accompaniment one day before your concert can be disorienting.  And since there is no time at that late point in the process, you have no opportunity to really explore the best way to fit your sound with the orchestral palette.

You can work with the Fauxharmonic accompaniment from the beginning.  Making sure that the musical result you’ve been polishing for weeks is exactly what you’re going to bring out on stage during your concert.

Matching your artistic vision

Of course you have a vision for how your performance should go.  You should not have to suppress it just to get the right orchestral accompaniment.  We work with you to make sure that the tempi, balance, cuts, timbre, and rubato are calibrated to your vision and your needs.
